In 2013, Dave Walker launched an Advent Calendar online, turning his unique brand of humour on a time of year when we sorely something to lighten the load. It's the perfect aid for staying sane while getting ready for Christmas - and a laugh a day is healthier than chocolate. It's now available as a spiral-bound desktop calendar. For every day of Advent, Dave takes a wry look at what we endure at this time of year, including understanding the etiquette of Christmas cards, what party wear tells you about the wearer, how to survive a visit to the shops and, most crucially of all, a guide to finding the end of the sticky tape. Among all the humour is the occasional searching question about the way we celebrate Christmas.
Dave Walker is a freelance cartoonist specialising in church and cycling-themed cartoons. He started drawing cartoons when he should have been concentrating on theological lectures at college, and his drawings have now appeared each week in the Church Times for ten years. He has drawn cartoons for The Guardian, Christian Aid, Greenpeace, and Cycling Weekly, among others. He runs a number of cartoon websites, including cartoonchurch.com, which supplies ecclesiastical cartoons for church magazines.
Dave lives in Essex, where he is on the steering group for a Methodist chapel, The Fishermen's Chapel in Leigh-on-Sea.
