The table is a central image in Christianity - feasts appear frequently in Jesus' parables, the central act of Christian worship takes place around a table and the Bible describes heaven as a place of banqueting. Building on this inviting imagery, Dilly Baker offers ready-made resources for the whole year.

From the blessing of a home to a quiet day on the environment, from a Eucharistic prayer Easter to a credal statement for Human Rights Day, here are liturgies, prayers, gospel reflections, meditations, ideas to use on retreats and with all-age groups and, appropriately, seasonal recipes for simple good food to share.

Dilly Baker

DILLY BAKER is the Warden of Scargill House, a retreat centre in the Yorkshire Dales with a programme that focuses on creative arts and craft, faith development, ecology, interfaith encounter and spirituality. She was previously a tutor at Sarum & Wells Theological College.

'Dilly Barker has drawn together this collection of prayers, meditations and spiritual writings from her experience of living in community and offering hospitality to all who seek a closer experience of the love and generosity of God. There is a seasonal flavour to each of the four main chapters, which have a wealth of material to be shared. The liturgies can easily be used in any setting and there are lots of ideas for those who wish to spend time together in a less formal atmosphere.'  Magnet, Autumn 2008
